Where There is Hope
by Jim Clark Have you felt lately that there doesnt appear to be any hope for your situation? For young Timothy Torres, life apparently seemed hopeless. He recently joined the tragic ranks of several New York City police officers that couldnt see a way out for their troubled souls. In one recent year, Timothy was the 12th officer of the New York Police Department to commit suicide. He was only 26 years old. This has been the highest toll of policemen taking their lives since the Depression. One counselor commented that these men are afraid of saying, I need help. How different things might have been if Officer Torres shared with someone his inner agony.
Without Gods perspective and love, your problems really can seem overwhelming. But if you view your heartaches through the lens of Jesus Christ and His love for you, a promise of hope will clearly come into the picture. If youre feeling hopeless these days, please contact me through our prayer line at jimclark@abilene.com. Ill pray with you and help be a lifeline of support. Christ is our ultimate source of hope. Lets help each other hang onto this hope in Jesus during our dark times.
